  • It is in the group of dinosaurs called Sauropods.

  • They walked on four legs.
  • They would move when they ate all the food in one place.
Description
  • Length: 80-85 feet
  • Height:  40-50 feet at the head, 23 feet at the tail
  • Weight:  33-88 tons (about 20 elephants)
  • It had a small head and a short, thick tail.
  • It stood like a giraffe.
  • It had a claw on the first toe of each front foot, and three claws on each back foot.
  • Each foot had 5 toes.
  • Its nose was on top of its head, which may mean it had a great sense of smell.
  • It had 26 teeth on top and 26 on the bottom, for a total of 52 teeth.
Behavior
  • It laid its eggs in rows, not in nests, probably as it was walking.
  • Scientists don't think it took care of its eggs.
  • It was a peaceful dinosaur.
Protection
  • It probably didn't have any enemies because it was so large.
  • It could use its long tail to whip away most attackers.
  • It also had thick leathery skin and clawed feet.

  • Unlike most dinosaurs, its front legs were longer than the back legs.
  • It was one of the tallest dinosaurs that ever lived.
  • Brachiosaurus could live up to 100 years.
  • Brachiosaurus had to have a very large heart to pump blood all the way to its brain, which was in its head on top of a very long neck.
  • It was not very smart.
  • At one time scientists thought it had two brains, one near its tail! They don't think that is true anymore.
  • Its skull had many holes in it to make it lighter.
