An ongoing musical project.

The concept behind this project is to explore musical spaces which consist of sparse structures consisting of anything from a verbal description of an idea to a set of chord changes with a melody. Improvisation at the fundemental level is the key. I have explored these types of ideas at high volume in a large band setting with Alien Planetscapes. But even that was too restrictive.

For me, this is the ideal forum for creating music which can be interestingfor both musicians and listeners, I hope. I guess become bored with only playing songs with traditional structures and wanted to try more textural explorations, or perhaps I am just lazy and undiciplined. The goal of this musical project is to create overall compositions in which instruments provide textures, melody, harmony, and rhythms which are created and evolve spontaneously. I hope to create music which comes from the soul in real time.

I am in search of additional musicians who value the overall ambient feeling created by music over the desire to play solos.

Numerous studio sessions have been produced with good results The 1st live executions of this idea were done with myself on MIDI Guitar and Len Pace on percussion (tablas, dumbek, bongos, cymbals, and bells). Rhythmic patterns were set up running the MIDI guitar through a 4-second Digi-Tech sampling delay. This repeating pattern was used as a backdrop for improvisation. The looped patterns create rhythmic figures of odd or random numbers of beats which becomes the framework of the piece. The loops are added to harmonically and melodies are played in real time. The delay was utilized such that the pattern could evolve and change into something else slowly or suddenly. The results were very good.
