Yachatz/Sharing (One person reads)

        TNow we break the middle matzah and hide one half for the afikomen. In essence, we are breaking bread together in honor of our respective Searches. As we do this, we read aloud:

    This is the bread of expediency which our ancestors ate in the land of Egypt; let all those who are hungry enter and eat thereof; and all who are in distress come and celebrate the Passover. At present we celebrate it here, but next year we hope to celebrate it in a Promised Land. This year we are strangers in a strange land, but next year may we be at home.

        Because this is also an adoption seder, we will relinquish something precious of ours to another celebrant who will place it for us until the Search later in the seder.
