  Tennis Association; inductee of the Eastern Tennis Assn. Hall of Fame; USTA

  Fitzgibbon Fitzgibbon, Leslie J., passed away the 19th of September, 2003.
  Mr. Fitzgibbon, a life long resident of Garden City, NY grew up in Sea
  Cliff, LI. Educated Sea Cliff public school, Chauncy Hall in Boston.
  Graduated from MIT in 1935. He married Sarah Miller Rich in 1934. Mr.
  Fitzgibbon and his son Herb won the National Father and Son Tennis
  Tournament at Longwood Cricket Club in 1967. Mr. Fitzgibbon also played in
  the seniors at Wimbledon, Forest Hills and Longwood. He was Captain of the
  U.S. International ITC Team. They competed in Rotterdam, Holland for the
  Windmill Trophy in 1971. Mr. Fitzgibbon was past Chairman of the Eastern
  Lawn Tennis Association Membership Committee, past Secretary of the ELTA,
  President of the ELTA 1968-69, Director of the USTA Booth, Forest Hills,
  Chairman Stevens Cup Committee 1978, Treasurer USTA 1977-78, Treasurer
  International Lawn Tennis Club of USA, USTA Life Member #499, MIT Club of
  NY, Kappa Sigma Fraternity; served as a Major in the Civil Air Patrol in
  WWII, amateur radio operator since 1929 (W2BWC), & President of Garden City
  High School Men's Club. In 1988 Mr. Fitzgibbon was inducted into the
  Eastern Tennis Assn. Hall of Fame. Mr. Fitzgibbon is survived by his wife,
  Sarah "Sally"; daughter, Sally Kjellgren of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a son,
  Herbert S. Fitzgibbon II of NYC, and grandson Christopher Fitzgibbon.
