My BURGESS family connections are in UPWELL, Norfolk,England Eliza M. Burgess born in Upwell in about 1858. She does not appear in the 1871 census of Upwell (which has the distinction(?) of being in two counties - Norfolk or Cambridgeshire - depending on which side of the river you are on. She married James Albert Walkden, Sr. (1816-1877) in 1847. At the time of her marriage, Adaline Burgess was an operative in a Lowell, Massachusetts mill. There is evidence that her sister, Alzina Straw (Burgess) Smothers also lived in Lowell. Adaline (Burgess) Walkden died on March 4, 1854 and is buried in Edson Cemetery in Lowell, Massachusetts.
