I am looking for information about a Richard Burgess (Born
C1790)in Britain. He was a buccaneer off the coast of
Madagasgar and owned two ships. He was caught by the Royal
Navy and given the option -- Hang by the yardarm or go to
Van Diemien's Land (Tasmania, Australia). On arrival in
Tasmania he started rum-running between Devenport (Tasmania)
and Westernport Bay in Victoria. He founded the Burgess
family fishing family in Tasmania.
I am looking for info about him, especially birth date,
parents etc.
I am also looking for relatives in New Zealand of mine --
related to my grandfather William (Walter) John Burgess
(Born 1883 in Launceston -- a 3rd generation Australian). I
am of the 5th generation.

I am looking for any information in regards to an Edward
Burgess who is shown in the 1850 Census, Eastern District
of Monongalia, VA (now W VA), he is followed by Catharine
age 56, Louisa age 19, Jesse age 14 and James age 11.
Jesse is my great grandfather....I have been told that
Catharine was possibly a Pixler, but the only marriage
bond I can find is an Edward Burgess and a Catherine
Porter in 2/17/1831. The bond was posted 2/16/1831. It
states in that Census that he and Catharine came from

I may be barking up the wrong family tree but I am
lost and grasping at straws. I my family we have the
Burge,Burgess or Burrage name. I have seen it spelled these
ways for the same woman who was my great Grandmother. She
lived her married life in Alabama but I do not know if she
was born in Alabama or not. She was supposed to be native
american half or whole I do not know.

I know it is very little to go on but it is all I have.

My grand dad was an American soldier in the Navy, name
George Burgess, surname "Doc", he disapeared in 1944,
apparently he deceased during a Japanese attack in the
South Pacific. I don't have much information about him.
Anything will help me contacting the Military Personal
Records for the Navy.

said that her parents were killed in an indian battle when
she was 3 months old. james groves (elizabeths father

The above is a transcription of marriage records that
covered both
St. Landry Parish & Avoyelles Parish. I think the first
portion was
begun in St. Landry because that is where Sweat lived.
The 2nd part
was in Avoyelles Parish where Burgess lived.

This was reported incorrectly, indicating that James
Groves was married
more than once - and to Anna Perkins. That was never the
case - the
Avoyelles portion only said Groves was her guardian and
put her under
the protection of Anna Perkins. The St. Landry portion is
much clearer,
as James Groves calls her an orphan, the daughter of his
brother in law
(another clue for our future research) from Natchitoches
(where Groves lived). So this 8 page record needs to be
put in both
places and some explanation made at the beginning to
clarify why. The
Avoyelles record would be a little confusing if read
alone. However,
the St. Landry portion could stand alone, but does not
prove the marriage
actually took place, that occurred in Avoyelles.

Seeking information regarding Lutie D. Burgess (may be
listed as Lucille) who passed away 13 December 1966 in
California. I believe she was born in Iowa 21 September
1879 and married Volney Burgess. At one time she lived in
Stanwood, Iowa and Little Rock, Arkansas and moved to
California before 1950.

I would like to know more about my great great grandfather,
John Burgess, who settled in Buffalo County (NW) Wisconsin
in about 1856. He was born in Lockerbie, Scotland in about
1830 and died about 1912. He was married to Rachel Evans of
PA and they raised six children and were early settlers of
Nelson, Wisc. My great great grandmother, Rachel, was the
first school teacher in Nelson. She was born about 1842 and
died in 1927. Their oldest daughter, Martha Jane Burgess,
who was born in 1861 in Wisc. was also a teacher, before
marrying John Crockett Allison in Alma Wisc. in March of
1882. They settled in White (Brookings County) South Dakota
and raised my grandmother Harriet Allison Scruby who was
born in April of 1894 (she was the middle child of three).
Any information you might have about my relatives would be
appreciated! My great great grandfather John Burgess was a
Wisc. Assemblyman for Maxville area (near Nelson, Wisc.) in
1865 and served as county clerk there. He and his wife,
Rachel, are buried in Cascade Cemetary in Nelson Wisconsin.

Clark A.Burgess married to Sandra Lee Bowman in 1994. Any
one who knows about this mans past tell me! I am his

1814 and was married to Ester Richards, born 1818, had a
child, Benjamin Franklin Burgess and I don't know about
any other children Benjamin Franklin Burgess born 13 April
1840 in Wyoming County New York and died,Sept.6, 1915 in
Payette, Idaho, was married to Martha Angline Smith 19
Nov. 1865 in Polk City, Iowa. I really need info on
Benjamin J. Burgess and Ester Richards.

I am Richard Burgess (no middle name) the son of Joseph
William Burgess, who I believe was born in Bath UK. His
date of birth is 24th May 1942 and his mother was Harriet
(aka Mabel) Burgess born around 1901-1902. Joseph is, as
far as we know i an only child and didn't know much about
his father. His mother came from Liverpool England and had
an obvious Liverpudlian accent. She settled in the
Wandsworth/Battersea area of London England. Joseph,
however and the rest of us were raised in/on Canvey Island
in Essex England. Unfortunately the Burgess name may cease
at this point as I have no intention of having any
children, although my sister Lisa Jayne Burgess has a son,
Mason with the Burgess surname. There is also another
sibling, Natalie Anne nee Burgess, who is married with the
surname McNally, who has a young boy called Ryan.

Researching the origins and family history of Robert
Burgess of the Elizabeth River area, Virginia, who recorded
his will in January 15, 1708/9, in the County of Norfolk
(now Chesapeake). The will of Robert Burgess was recorded
as "Deed of Gift" to his children.

I would appreciate any imformation on John and Charlotte
Burgess who immigrated to New Zealand in 1851 on the ship
called the "Lady Nugent". They had 4 children with them,
three boys and one girl.They settled first at Riccarton
Bush near Christchurch, then took up land on the Ohoka
stream, Clarkville near Kaiapoi and called it The
Willows.Any imformation would be very helpfull.

Lookin for a Miss. Burgess, born about 1815, married
about 1835 to a John Morgan French, in Tennessee, had
3 or 4 childrens, died after 1842. John Morgan French
then married Elizabeth L. Campbell in 1844 and moved to
Yalobusha County, Mississippi.

Any help will be greatful.

I am looking for information on 2 men named John Burgess.
Both were born in Aberdeen area of Scotland (I think)[the
first in 1808 & his son in 1827]& the second migrated to
Australia in about 1850.
The second married Elizabeth Chapman.
