One of the best 3D first-person shooters, with three different plots through the eyes of a Xenomorph, Marine, or Predator. Very cool stuff. Online "deathmatch" scenarios available too. One complaint: no save games (unless you download the patch from the publisher. |

Blizzard's second Warcraft game set a new standard for RTS games. The interesting scenarios and humorous characters made it even better. |

Some critics liken this game to super VGA "crack" and I have to agree. Even though it has its roots in TV's "reality" shows (which I hate), it makes these virtual people likeable and addicting. Pick up the "Living Large" and "House Party" expansion sets for even more bizarre options. |

Far better than the original game it sequels, DK2 is a RTS game with you as the bad guy in charge of building an underground realm filled with evil nasties to defeat the pesky heroes. Check here and here for downloadable dungeons, and here for the official Web site. |

OK, I admit my Python addiction. This is an older but funny game that follows the basic plot of the classic film. You'll get carpal tunnel syndrome from wanting to click everywhere. Check Pythonline for other cool computer-based Monty Pythonalia. |

Blizzard's follow-up to Warcraft revolutionized RTS games again, and the "Brood War" expansion gave the three alien races even more "toys" to play with. Blizzard's Battle.net is a great place to find opponents online too, all free with a registered copy. |

The Star Control trilogy concluded in this third installment. Each game is a classic and distinctive game and worth tracking down. The gameplay holds up even with the games' now-outdated graphics. SC3 features a dozen new alien races, realistic SVGA depictions, real-time space combat, and lots of puzzles to conquer. It's stuffed with humorous dialog too. The link I had for the Unofficial Star Control Page seems to be MIA. I'll see if I can track where it's been moved. |

The classic Williams arcade games, on the PC. In the wake of MAME and the other fan-based emulators, this is the coolest collection. A handful of the classic titles: Defender, Stargate, Robotron 2084, Joust, Bubbles, and Sinistar. |

Remember the movie "Rollerball," with James Caan? Give 'em hockey sticks, and you're pretty close to this game...sort of Hockey Kombat. Really violent, brutal...and fun too! |

I've lost count how many editions are out now, but they're all great. Turns your PC into a rapid-fire quiz show of pop-culture trivia, with cool studio sound effects and the ever-present, sarcastic host. Now an actual ABC-TV show starring Paul Reubens. |

Very slick game combining a good driving game and shoot-em-up. Picture the Road Warrior in 1976 America. |

Captain Quazar, a superhero cop with the chin of the Tick and the firepower of Rambo, stars in this arcade-style shooter. Travel the galaxy to root out evil crime lords in great cartoon animation reminiscent of the old "APB" arcade game. |

The sequel to Mechwarrior, with new weapons, mechs, enemies, and better animation. Drive a huge mech combat machine and nuke your friends. |

Worms: World Party, the sequel to Worms: Armegeddon, was just released. If you're a die-hard Worms fan like me, you'll want to get it. There's no additional weapons this time (my one big gripe), but there's plenty of new play options and lots of support for online invertebrate combat. |
