Comic Strips
APOLOGIES 8/01: Many parts of the Cartoon zone of this site are in desperate need of updates. I'm working on having some new info here by the end of September, so please excuse some of the virtual dust while I do some cleaning. Thanks
Remember when all the Sunday comics used to be funny? Now, with the end of Bloom County/Outland, The Far Side, and recently, Calvin & Hobbes, there's just a few of the really funny survivors out there. Here's some info one a couple of them.
Comic Strip News
- New Book! The Dilbert Principle.
Scott Adams, creator of Dilbert and the author of The Dilbert Princliple, The Dilbert Future, and Dogbert's Managment Guide,A little bit different than most comic anthologies, these books are both a collection of strips and a funny number of chapters about the principles behind Dilbert. An excellent read. (Harper Collins Books)
- Doonesbury Software.
It came out last year, but it's still fairly easy to find. Gary Trudeau's Doonesbury characters are featured in The Doonesbury Election Game: Campaign 1996. Users can pick candidates (real or imagined), and have Doonesbury characters like Duke and Zonker as "campaign advisors," and experience the real-life absurdities of campaigning, all to the running commentary the strip is famous for.
- More Dilbert News!
Wizards of the Coast, creators of the Magic: The Gathering card game have announced that Dilbert will be featured in a new title called Dilbert: Corporate Shuffle. The cards are due out in May.
- Even More Dilbert News!
Dilbert will be making the jump from comics page to the small screen. Due soon, Fox will debut the prime-time cartoon series based on our favorite corporate wage slaves. No details yet, but we'll be updating as they come in.
