Submission Tips
Some people have asked exactly what kind of entry is right for this site. Here are some tips.
It should be entertaining and
interesting to others besides the players involved. If your character
died because of a five year-old in-joke in your gaming group based on a
single quote from the outtakes reel of an unknown Roger Corman movie,
the only reaction from the readers here will be the sound of scratching
heads.
I love getting new entries for the Hall -- I get several every day -- but I use a little quality contol on the
ones posted. Some of them are blank (some people get off on using paid bandwidth to hit "Submit"
buttons, who knew?), others are the typical "Dick E. Normus," "I.P. Daley," etc. No, these don't get posted.
(Maybe I'll post repeat offenders' e-mail addresses so others can e-mail comments on their
intellectual development.)
Some entries are from folks
who haven't grasped the concept of "humor" or "brevity" and write
500-word epics on how their favorite PC got trashed because of a series
of bad rolls. Please avoid anything like this:
"...And then he swung his mighty +12 Hackmaster sword given to him by
Tiamat a 14th time and missed. The critical roll made him drop said
mighty +12 Hackmaster sword given to him by Tiamat, sending the mighty
+12 Hackmaster sword given to him by Tiamat clanking to the floor with a
loud, thunderous, but awe-inspiring "CLANG!" as it slid across the
floor. The demon watched the doomed hero lose his mighty +12 Hackmaster
sword given to him by Tiamat, and gave a hearty and evil guffaw as he
raised his hands and prepared to finish him. Knowing that the hero was
the 12th descendant of the lord of the House of Hooey, and village neighbor of the second-cousin
of the ex-husband of the nanny of the brother's sister in-law's former schoolmate's nephew of the
14th in line for the throne, he knew just the spell to use. As the smile crossed his thin, greasy lips,
he began his chant..."
Okay, you get the idea.
Remove half the punctuation and misspell half the words, and that's
real close to some of the e-mails I've seen. Back to the Hall of Fame.
